I dont get why his sentence is changed to life instead of the original which is death. I don't really remember well since it's been a long time since i've read the previous chapter, but isn't all of his past victim a thing? Or is Haruka the first victim? If so then i get why it's changed to life.

Seems like because there are two survivors, the sentence is reduced. Also, there's a mistake in page 19. Murakami Haruka is supposed to be the black haired one.
