But usually lot of the story in this manga the actual culprit have a great alibi but with Touma explaining it in a way that makes sense, they can still arrest the correct guy.

Civil cases and criminal cases can exist simultaneously. Famously, OJ Simpson was acquitted in the criminal case of his wife's murder, but deemed liable for her death in the civil case and ordered to pay damages.
It could be attempted manslaughter, more likely something like aggravated battery, but it's quite possible that charges were never filed, or that they were dropped. Shouryou needs this to be a civil-only matter, because that creates the circumstances for constructing his alibi - the settlement negotiations during which he could get the brothers to create their fraudulent testimonies. Which means he didn't file or press charges, and instructed his lawyer not to do so, either. He needed to look meek and easy to push around. That's what his half-brothers expect to see - and that's how he got 'em to slip up. If they'd resisted the opportunity to bully him just this one time...
Seems like Touma simply didn't want to with this one, right? Haha

This was great, one of the best QED iff chapters yet. It also really touches on the legal stuff, which it tends to ignore in some cases, where the culprit actually has a good chance of getting away with it. What a god-tier plan. Kana and touma were fun to watch as always.

this series has irregular releases but almost every chapter is a banger, and this one doubly so. like holy crap, it's so rare to read detective story that has "we know the truth but we can't do anything about how the legal stuff will proceed" for the ending. my favorite chapter so far

Great chapter and TL as always, was fun to see Touma doing some of the legwork this time. Very neat of the manga to have a chap where the culprit gets away with it too.
