I want to make a retort, but... you are right. If it happens once or twist it might be just the specific artist idea of the story, if it happens every so often it might be actually a mirror to their society.

Yeah, like I said, a lot of the time there's only one person (like the Village Elder) who knows about their people were saved by one person's sacrifice, and they have their reasons to not teach the truth of that day, but there are also some like this one, where everyone knows the facts and still curse the people that died keeping their community from complete annihilation.
