It’s a little weird how Genghis Khan is hailed as a “hero” when he killed millions of people, raped many women, and led one of the most brutal empires known to man. Maybe Eastern cultures find his escapades great, but I find it hard to admire his actions.

But I guess victors write history. You have to wonder how much history has been erased or forgotten from the world that could absolutely change what we know today?

At the time he was hailed as a great "conqueror", mass murder, rape and plundering is the standard. And history books don't record that because it's "standard", making a lot of people unaware of it, even to this day.

That said, it's more likely that his reputation as a great conqueror is what gave him the "hero" title.
Remember, the word "hero" doesn't come with "benevolence". And due to the conflict of interests, benevolence to a group of people might mean being brutal to another group anyway.

"Jochi was a legitimate child born between Genghis Khan and his first wife"

Well, about that - it's understood that Jochi was Börte's son, but it's actually somewhat debated whether or not he was Genghis', or borne from the union between Börte and her previous "husband" - in quotes because her previous relationship wasn't exactly consensual :notlikethis:
