Could not agree more with the translator even if I tried. I never guessed that dude would have the balls to use a busted arm to score knocked down in the 11th hour. Can’t even blame the MC on this one. That was outta left field af! I was expecting a panic take down this chapter instead.

The writing in this manga is so fire. This guy isn't beating Aoba's ass because Aoba is too weak, or because this guy had some special power he brought out last minute. Aoba is getting fucked up because of a consistent flaw in his character: He doesn't respect or acknowledge people. He's focused on his goal and only focuses on what he deems important which leaves gaps in his judgment, and openings in his fighting—it's the perfect way to justify stakes because the story isn't just "Aoba vs fight of the week" it's also "Aoba vs. himself" and sometimes "Aoba vs. his naturally weak health."

Objectively peak shonen because it understands how to create a narrative inherently against Aoba without appearing contrived and convoluted. You don't know if you'll see Aoba pull this one out, or if he will be humbled, and it's probably my favorite thing about Red Blue.

See you guys at the next scanlator sniper duel release!

Aoba is so gassed out even a punch from a damaged arm can score a knock-down. I doubt he'd win on score and he doesn't have much time left so he'd better get over his shock quick. It's funny he's surprised by this when he himself had used his damaged feet previously and when he acknowledges that his opponent is strong. Maybe he's shocked because he looked down on them?

Also it looks like his opponent threw his right straight inside of Aoba's left hook (though if so Aoba had only barely started to throw it), which is a very dangerous counter.

I think Aoba's real mistake here is that he's got such an instinct for exploiting weakness that he can get tunnel vision, he threw the same left hook three or four times in a row which is just asking to get countered.

FACTS! I can’t really blame him for making this mistake given low stamina makes idiots out of all of us but MAN is tunnel vision accurate. Even if your opponent has no striking talent or expertise, they can still counter a predictable shot if they have the timing. Well done chapter by the author and great translation. It’s a shame king of the octagon isn’t this good.
