There was the Rampage suplex, and none of his opponents, even the instinctual striker, just checking his take downs with a knee. Honestly there hasnt been any knees which is surprising since its Kai Asakura (who the main antagonist seems to be an analogue for) signature move.
Kenshin isn't based on Kai Asakura, he's based on Tenshin Nasukawa, the kickboxer. And Kai Asakura isn't mainly a knee guy, he's always been very boxing heavy.
Knees are a double edged sword against takedowns because if you time them wrong you can give up a takedown easily. Hachiya's issue was not that he couldn't stop Aoba's takedowns anyway. I don't even think Aoba shot on him that much.
Hachiya absolutely would have won that match at least by decision if he didn't get caught in a submission while trying to finish, which ironically is pretty much exactly what happened to Aoba here.
I think if Neijima at least threw some perfunctory ground-and-pound I would have less problems with him, as it is it feels like the ref would be standing him up for lack of activity. Not doing anything on top whatsoever doesn't score under most MMA rulesets and that was what made Aoba's job much harder because it gave him zero openings and Aoba still nearly armbarred him, Neijima has probably got a serious bicep injury even in his win.
He really should have lost the tournament, I think.
I don't think so, that's just what a massive underdog winning looks like. It wasn't that he was secretly better or Hachiya fought like an idiot, he just played his cards as best he could and then had enough luck to pull through.
Also I'm going to post what I posted last time - it seems baffling that just sitting on 30 chapters behind a paywalled Patreon doesn't break rule 1.8. If so that feels like a gigantic loophole.
