I'm pretty sure this has to be a violation of rule 1.8 right? 30 chapters held behind an external paywall? That's like three volumes worth.

I'm not a mod, is there a mod here who can clarify why this doesn't break site rules?

That's basically every scan group and site in existence at this point, especially now that the shitty coin system has spread like a virus, but even those are usually only 3-10 chapters at a time, so this is the largest amount I've seen so far. Dunno if that's enough to make this a special case or not.

Mildly surprised that I got pinged for this specifically. 😅

Rule 1.8:

Permanently withholding some of your scanlations to a series for the purpose of attracting users to your site is not allowed.

The key thing for this rule is the "permanently withholding" part. Since chapters are still being uploaded to MD, it technically doesn't break this rule. The main goal of this rule is to hopefully prevent groups from not uploading to MD at all. The way it is currently can be seen as a bit of a compromise that we've eventually arrived at.

If a group paywalls but then also proceeds to not regularly update MD, then it becomes an issue. (And TBH a few times, its been purely due to the group leader being too lazy to upload to MD regularly rather than being opposed to uploading to MD at all... usually someone ends up taking the mantle of being the designated uploader in that case)
