Thanks for the TLs, and seeing how this wraps up in a few chapters, I am curious where it will go. MC keeps trying to distance himself from people and do whatever behind the scenes to support the Hero, in a very defeatist sort of way. Does he know this turn of events would occur, I doubt it. Then how will he react? Maybe he will start showing agency in order to protect his friends and the Hero, having to go out of his way to assert his existence in an attempt to help. Very curious about how it gets resolved.

This series never really had a plot, it's mostly just a series of misadventures. This Vanity plotline, which I think is the first two or three volumes of the webnovel, is about as much organized plot as the series has. The rest are largely unrelated adventures.

I guess he figures that if you're going to be on anybody's side, it's best to be on the same side as the main character. Generally a pretty good idea if you can help it.
