I love that despite Kariu and Honoka taking more of a back seat in this arc, their friendship with Hishiro bleeds through and is still prevalent, serving as a reminder that she's changed and there are people now who are actively worried about her, (because this arc has been having her face her biggest flaws that led to her current situation, it makes it easy for her to think that she's hasn't or has reverted). It shows that Arata isn't wrong, that even though she's taking baby steps, she's improving and is already a better person than who she was before the experiment.
