i guess it's good he's showing a bit of resistance but even if she's faking as someone 'drunk' other than calling a nearby woman or getting a nearby taxi i'd think most ppl would just walk them to their door

i feel like that was an excuse to get closer/slightly flirty b/c other than someone walking in i'd assume they'd be alone/he'd put up a closed sign like last time

I think the point is that he ISN'T completely fine with it, which is exactly why he's trying to preserve that happiness as much as possible, cause if even that is lost, that would make all the horrible shit he did even worse since in the end, it was all for naught. (stupid ahh mindset, I know...)

That's pretty much his whole character, really. He's sincere, no doubt about that. But he's also just a spineless, gullible idiot.
