wow... who could have possibly seen that coming.... fucking idiots. Great so now you've embarassed a guy that is evil and you know is willing to sacrifice for shady ways to power up but NooOO you keep him alive cause why? you pity him or some shit? like wtf is this shit... the author really couldn't think of a better villain to have for season 3, they really had to resort to just a cheap and shitty way to set this guy up?

Probably would have worked better if the son survived and they didn't want to kill someone they viewed as more innocent who is then willing to avenge his father instead of whatever the fuck this shit is

To be fair, this is also why everybody is shit talking the orthodox faction is 99% of the stories.
Their refusal to kill most of the time leads to these types of outcomes.
