Her parents really expected her to become a pianist, considering they bought her a grand piano, not just an upright piano. Or was the grand piano always in the house, even before she was born? I don't remember anymore.

Edit: Now I remember, she bought it herself by working part-time, didn't she? That makes more sense, since she took it so seriously.
