Honestly I loath this trope. Just draw the dude with eyes and make him an actual character from get-go. He's not a hentai protag for goodness sakes!
To me it just shows how much of an afterthought the male MC is, like they didn't even bother giving him an actual design, rather than having any poignant meaning to it.
