apparently this came out in 07 so idk if it'd have something as 'easy' as that versus challenges since this isn't some comedy/satire but i guess it would be a cool glory story and her having interpersonal relationships being the 'drama' versus 'struggling'/where she actually wanted to be a boxer from the start

dang that chief is underhanded but if anything you'd think they'd just offer her a good contract unless their company is also flat broke XP Altho if Okome was more cunning himself too bad he couldn't like, bet like 5 grand on her and then she loses on purpose to screw him over but this isn't that kinda story

a 'diamond' sure is quite the metaphor, although while i'm sure boxers don't have the obligation to pay if they break the opponents nose/arm/etc, but i imagine if she actually had killed someone she'd still be legally responsible

It was established their company aren't doing well due women boxing not bringing much profit so I can see why they couldn't just give her a good contract. And well, most company works on capitalism philosophy where you spend less and rake high profit.

Well he had men fighting her as well so other than some female athletes pestering to join him maybe they’ll find co ed boxing matches to join versus all female matches that also don’t get a lot of attention

But yeah other than someone being higher up and scouted to a better company hope she gets a better deal as opposed to being semi-blackmailed /guilt tripping into joining this company
