I thought the city would have been abroad or at least unaffected by the political situation. Instead, it’s the next powder keg ready to blow up.

It makes sense from the author’s standpoint of retaining a connection with the situation they have already built, but from the characters PoV if they are “running away” they should have left to somewhere far far away where people don’t recognize Seika’s last name at least.

"When in Rome do as Roman's do" aye?! might be nitpicking but how do they know this expression. Or is this isekai world the same as earth but with magic.
Re-checked chapter 1, Seika is from Earth (imperial court mentioned, has to be from Japan or China), but he was reincarnated in another world, so yeah. Nobody should have a clue what Rome is.

Let's ask the translators!
Is that phrases is really on the manga or they made it the fuck up.

"Do you mean "When in Rome do as the Romans do?""
"I have no idea what this Rome you speak of is."
The text in the raw is "郷に入っては 郷に従え", which translates somewhat literally to "When you have entered the villiage, follow the villiage's customs". No mention of Rome at all.

The closest common phrase in English would be "When in Rome, do as the Romans" so it's a reasonable substitution in most contexts... but probably not this one.

Bro could've said "I could nuke this city, bro"

He could have... but it would also put even more eyes on them than there already is. Not to mention they would then be actively trying to find ways to either get rid of or learn of their weaknesses just to keep them in control instead of just letting them be.

MC being cautious is definitely smarter than just destroying everything.
For me, I'm just glad we finally get something beyond the anime. :glee:

It's not like wars are the only way to get something to reward supporters. There are high-ranking positions, and there are generally lands belonging to the crown that can be gifted. And a city that doesn't belong to anyone means it's either worthless, or it's powerful enough to withstand pressure from outside. Not something you can just give to someone.

That maul would weigh a metric ton.

So most people aren't allowed to go to the dungeon without recent monster activity? It's it usually the other way around, for when it's too dangerous?

That's plate armour, not mail.

The economy here doesn't make much sense. Seems like you have to risk your life way too much for way too little and the amount of resources you need to bring back to make a living is staggering. There's no way anyone who isn't a high level adventurer would be able to make it.

"Do you mean "When in Rome do as the Romans do?""
"I have no idea what this Rome you speak of is."
It's not necessary to know what Rome is to understand the saying, since the words imply enough without that knowledge.

Alright, who’s with me that there will be an escaped monster, followed by a stampede?
You mean the plot 70% of fantasy adventurer stories use?

Could be that he got it from context, or every region has a city or state they use in a similar way, so he just assumed there's a place named Rome wherever the mc has traveled through.
