Oh, fuck off with that. You finally set up an interesting premise and it turns out he was great all along to the point they are actively hiding his history from the students he is mentoring.

I got on board with this series because the protagonist seemed like he would be a normal dude, someone weak desperately struggling not to die whose only real noteworthy trait is his veterancy and experience, not someone who was secretly special and incredibly capable all along.

I mean...

I remember reading the novel and the MC's not secretly strong at all, he's "legendary" because has relationship with a walking disaster but it's not secretly the best and can pull Excalibur out of his ass. The teacher's reasoning is spot-on, special adventurers brute-force traps and surprise attacks until they can't, she wants her cute students to avoid that mentality as seen with the hammer-gorilla.

He has been surviving in deadly places only using like %30 of the required power (which is what he is capable of) for YEARS. He is literally the personification of "Beware of an old man in a profession where men die young" saying.

This got a bit confusing. Momo-chan-sensei is saying here that the MC is not making much money. Yet the first chapter says "it pays really well" and "even the lowest ranked awakened can earn up to ten million with a little bit of elbow grease". Now, ten million yen a year wouldn't be astronomically much, it's basically only a decent wage in Japan, nothing to write home about, I imagine, so it doesn't fit "it pays really well". Thus that ten million must be what a lower ranked could make in a month if they decide to put in real effort (and accept risks). 10M yen in a month would already be jolly good for the highest officials or even a CEO of not-megacorp.

Is this reconning or something?
