Manga in general invest a great deal in normalizing the idea of life consumed by conferences and committee meetings. This chapter is twenty-eight pages, and it's almost nothing but a conference.

"Your achievements are comparable to a special-class."

Oh, fuck off with that. You finally set up an interesting premise and it turns out he was great all along to the point they are actively hiding his history from the students he is mentoring.

I got on board with this series because the protagonist seemed like he would be a normal dude, someone weak desperately struggling not to die whose only real noteworthy trait is his veterancy and experience, not someone who was secretly special and incredibly capable all along.

I think she is just trying to pamper him so he would accept. What she means is, his survival rate compared to the missions he has taken (relative to his power level) and feats he has accomplished are exceptional therefor special-class level. Not that he himself is at special-class in power rank.

She said special-class just powers through the issues but he doesn't have that option so he is resourceful. Which is something i prefer in an MC instead of secretly OP dumbass no.553213

Yeah "you survived dungeons using cunning that special-class adventures normally brute force" is way different than "you're secretly special-class but have been acting as 3rd class".

The latter is all-too-common, so I'm willing to hope that it is the former.

Argh, why do they always ruin the world building? They act like the entire world is Japan. The word's governments are so different, people are different, cultures are different. Do you honestly think there aren't any countries out there that would force people to clear these dungeons with little regard to human life? There are SO MANY PEOPLE IN THIS PLANET, and there are so many different countries with different customs, and they let their super soldiers retire? In what reality would that work? Releasing a soldier that is not easy to replace, even if he is lower ranked? The world is ending, what are you thinking? Don't make the threat that big if you want to convince us that MC and his group retiring is a plausible ending for them. The way they are training the students is stupid too. DON'T GET A VETERAN TO GUIDE THEM THROUGH THE DUNGEON, AND INSTEAD SEND THEM TO MISSIONS THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO FAIL? WTF? Aren't these awakened kids the only hope for humanity? Why are you having normal people training them? This would've been so much better if the author didn't decide to raise the stakes this way, it just makes it hard to take the story seriously. The rugged older mentor protag taking on the role of training the new generation of heroes (or more often than not, heroines) has been done before, and it's usually not this messy of a premise.

I just wanna say.. These kind of stuff is parallel to real life.. They fire veteran employees and hire 'top achievers' with no experience because they're easier to brainwash and don't know what they're worth 😅

Yeah, but we don't have literal monsters invading our neighborhoods and eating the population on the streets (just yet). I know it's supposed to be a parallel, and with the way real life governments act during emergencies, it kinda works, but there is a point where too far is too far lol. All I'm saying is that the stakes are a bit much for this type of story. I bet they're not even going to do anything interesting with this world building, and the author just threw that information there to convince MC into agreeing. It will probably never come up again.
