we're right back to the core crisis at the heart of the whole series... I feel like one potential direction this could go though is recognizing that a physical copy might not actually be as necessary as it seemed? It feels like she's gone so far in understanding the power and freedom of web publishing, so it felt surprising for her to assume that the inevitability of having the print book was what was motivating everyone...
Bah. Print books are better. They're
real. If you've published an e-book, sure, it's a book, and could be successful, make money, most of what you could want . . . but for most people it's still better if there's an actual book you can hold in your hand and say "This. I wrote this!"
Lots of people still prefer to read their books in physical form. I'm one of them, but I was surprised to hear that recently, the sales share of print has been increasing again.
(weirdly, I actually prefer reading manga online, although that's mainly because when they print manga the format is usually too small to do them justice)
