…yeah, my gaydar is pinging on Shirahama.
He was half-retconned into the story, and the author cares about details.
He is there for a reason, and her goal at this point seems to be realistic representation*, now (she told me she’s stressed about getting stuff right during a stream. Very nice lady. Humblebrag).
Calling it! The dude is gonna grasp his gayness by being attracted to Miyano, and probably cry from the ensuing panic due to internalised homophobia.
*Incidentally, I am 80% sure that Hirano is intentionally written as some kind of aspec. Homoro, aspec, snuggle-boy, power bottom. Likes massive snuggles, but only occasionally. I honestly don’t know if he and Kagi-kun will go past that. Kagi-kun perpetually “if only! Well, he is worth it.”
My wife is aspec. Her fibromyalgia and medication problems have had her in a “I just need to sleep” mood for months.
