Clipping halfway into the group really is comfortable, it's sort of like a full body stretch, but you don't need to actually hold the position yourself, the pose just naturally stays as it is. I'm not sure about the levitating T-pose, though... I tried it once, and it just sort of feels a bit unsettling. Like walking in the grass barefoot or chewing moist bread, you know? But to each their own, I guess.
