I agree with the above. This first chapter basically resolved a plot arc already. While that may suggest that it's rushed, but it really doesn't feel like it. I have a slight feeling that the author just wanted to drop the sappy bit as fast as possible to go into the happy slice of life portion... Which is the main focus after all.
