well, to be fair, that kind of tradition usually start to protect the woman and keeping the Kingdom from the ruins.

it usually started when the first person obtained the power during dire times, disaster or war. so people is scarce, populations is super low and life expectancy is really low.
then to keep human race, tribe or race not perished they decided to bring all males reaching adults age to fight and protect all children, woman and old people at all costs. even preventing woman joined the combat to make sure the the continuity of future descendants is ensured.
it always has deep historical Records in it when war is related. so i can't be helped.

at other hand she's not wrong either. let be reminded people with her mindset, those who didn't think army is important or people who didn't think high of history only exists during peaceful era. so their existence itself is the proof that people in the past successfully save the future freedom.

after all it always come in circles of life. war bring strong people to bring peace, then peace creates weak people who will start or cause war. and so on

For me, it's how honey is produced when bees drink nectar and later regurgitate (apparently it doesn't get into the stomach, so the process isn't technically vomiting) it for other bees to repeat the process however many times it's required.
