I have been enjoying this more than I expected I would.

Our female lead is a determined individual, rather than insensibly stubborn. She is naive, but she learns quickly and makes decisions based on not just her past experience, but on her newly acquired information as well. A lot of her faults make perfect sense for the current world she is in and how she was raised.

While her emotions as she falls in love seem overly dramatic to me, I keep having to remind myself that she’s still very young. Nothing I’ve read here has surpassed the sappiness of a journal entry from teenage-me writing prose about my crush. I mean, jeeze, gag me with a spoon.

Also, the translators are doing a very good job. While there are occasionally missing words, the translations otherwise seem to flow well and make sense. I’m hoping we’ll continue to see more updates in the future!

TL;DR - if you like a determined female lead with realistic faults and flubs with a heavy dose of teenage crush blush, give this one a go!

Ah I was thinking that the ML character design made me think of Black Bird, it's because it's the same Mangaka, no wonder I like this manga 😊

Is it just me or does the story make no sense? I just don't think things were explained well enough, but I guess maybe I just don't know the full history about samurai families and how selling yourself into a prostitute house works....

@acinomas you can kinda think of samurai families as high ranking noble families almost second to royal/imperial families in status. as for prostitute houses, usually you're sold into one by your family due to money related issues or too many mouths to feed in the family, thus why the girls have a debt to pay back to the prostitute house. usually children from samurai families that are sold to such places are because the family has been killed & only the children are left with no where to go. the debt they have to pay back also includes things like food and other necessities so its not easy to 'pay' the debt back either. which is why usually they're bought out of the house... (sometimes though depending on how your samurai parents died, the opposing samurai could just take in the now orphaned children to raise them or make them concubines depending. )

It's been a refreshing to find historical manga with good plot. The mystery is not the best plot, but it can be an option rather than vanilla love story. I hope this will not be a long ones tho, I don't really have the patience..
