Although not similar to Makoto predicament, remember in kindergarten used to play with girls more than boys, among guys there usually were a lot of fighting or other animosity, besides they tend to pick on girls like pulling their hair or being generally mean.
Though at first girls freaked out, eventually took roles of prince/knight/husband/etc. in our games and defend girls when boys were annoying them...
