Now imagine that but in a society that’s normalized that behavior and treats you as weird for disobeying when youre already a weird shutin and if you say no, you’ll be homeless and basically unemployable. Not even like she can save up her money now to avoid that. Pretty sure teens need the permission of their parents and school to work in Japan.

Instead of handwritten signatures, Japan uses personalized stamps that you register with the government. I'm no Japanese law expert, but it probably wouldn't be impossible for an unscrupulous family, especially a "semi-elite" one as Rena describes her family as, to get a stamp registered on someone's behalf and then just keep it out of their hands.

On a completely unrelated note, did you know that there are shockingly few legal guardrails to prevent parents in the US from selling off their teenage children to be married? All but 13 states allow minors (with various minumum age requirements, but 4 states set NONE AT ALL) to marry with parental consent, but there is technically no need for the minor to consent, because legally a minor's "consent" doesn't exist.

That aside, they obviously weren't expecting their hikkikomori daughter to just run away.

If I remember it is a spin off of Amaguiri, that serie is already at the gun for some people....
But I guess why there is not so much, even Higehiro was going around heavily romanticized... And not much of a legit(bad situations) reason to run away. In this, FC is afraid of sold for marriage, also MC finding similarities with their (probably) friend who took his life... And fears that may happen again, he definitlely shows his first priority is well being of FC not his horny self. I guess this is why...
