Well, the longest Yamaguchi's manga was Shigurui, with 15 volumes. This one has 10 volumes, and I don't think it's as good as Shigurui (not that it's bad or anything like that...). Manga that go on forever aren't really ideal, because they often get repetitive. I prefer manga under 20 volumes, there's just so much going on in this chapter that i don't even know where to begin. i'll just comment on the old guy's armor. it's so damn cool and the way that he massacred those guys impressive. also wow the guy really face tanked a katana like it's nothing.
i hate that this manga is kinda on the shorter side. it seems that it really could've been a long running series.
i like shigurui a lot. it's one of my favorites, but i like what's going on this manga a lot more already. the insane action and cool designs and powers. also, i think the art is better than shigurui'sWell, the longest Yamaguchi's manga was Shigurui, with 15 volumes. weeeell...The author was always good at creating cool designs and powers, since Kakugo no Susume at least. However I'm not too impressed by this manga at the moment. It feels a bit "soulless", if you know what I mean. It's the same stuff we have already seen in his other manga, only less focused probably. If I had liked the nihilist side of the author in Exoskull Zero, which had a lot of potential and great ideas, I'm not sure what to think of this manga yet. It certainly seem interesting, but so far I wasn't exactly super impressed. Maybe I'll change my mind after all the 7 onshin ninja will finally be introduced, or maybe not.i like shigurui a lot. it's one of my favorites, but i like what's going on this manga a lot more already. the insane action and cool designs and powers. also, i think the art is better than shigurui's
i think the designs here are cooler than in kakugo no susume. haven't read exoskull so i can't comment on that. nor have i really read gekiko(just a few chapters) but i think gekiko has his best art. and personally speaking, i prefer pessimism and nihilism over optimism. it's more realistic.weeeell...The author was always good at creating cool designs and powers, since Kakugo no Susume at least. You know, I found more interesting Yamaguchi's new manga, Gekikou Kamen, it was something "new", someghing "fresh", if I may say that.
I can agree with most of the things you said. It's just that when I first read Kakugo, I was immediately blown away. Same thing for Shigurui, I didn't expect something like that. I thought Gekikou Kamen was going to be a rather boring manga, but I was wrong. I had higher expectations for "7 ninja of efu" (or whatever we want to call it...), I guess.i think the designs here are cooler than in kakugo no susume. haven't read exoskull so i can't comment on that. nor have i really read gekiko(just a few chapters) but i think gekiko has his best art. and personally speaking, i prefer pessimism and nihilism over optimism. it's more realistic.
i think this manga is perfect for someone that really likes ninja scroll(1993) or yoshiaki kawajiri anime in general.
not that ninja scroll's story doesn't have it's merits, but i think ninja scroll works because of the action and high quality animation. efu no shichinin definitely reminds of ninja scroll but another anime that just came to mind is ninja resurrection(makai tensho). probably more of accurate comparison since ninja resurrection is craaaaazy.I can agree with most of the things you said. Yeah, it's somewhat like Ninja Scroll for sure, but Ninja Scroll had a much shorter and simpler story, less characters, it worked because there was also only 1 protagonist and a co-protagonist (+ the annoying monk). Same thing for Kagugo, he was the undisputed protagonist of the story.
In the end, I hope this manga doesn't end up becoming like Exoskull Zero.
