I'm sure that some of us has been on a similar situation. I've been there and I ended up losing both. The first because I was too late to confess and she got taken and the other because she waited for me too long so she moved on.

So, not going to lie, if this was real life I'd be SCREAMING at him to go out with the new girl.

Or confessing to the first one so he could really have a closure in his life... That would be being with boss, as we all know.

“She’s an epic rival” would usually make me roll my eyes at the arrogance of the writer… but here it’s 100% deserved. XD

Also… she will probably be able to appreciate his sincerity and stuff if* she lose in the future. She definitely know how hard it will be to conquer him…

* Yeah. Sorry, she is too strong, I’m not sure she will lose. XD

What a waste of a great character to be merely used as a plot device. I'd marry Ushio san in a heart beat over Rena honestly. I'd see myself having a more stable and better relationship with her than the prez. If we're being realistic, she is the better choice. The prez is just an absolute mess and needs to get her shit together. She's got too many flags. She might be the hottest, but she better start shaping up. Although I don't really expect that as then a huge part of this manga's premise and comedy element disappears then.
