Gee, I wonder how Feng grew up to be so selfish, susceptible to false flattery, short minded, arrogant, cares more about the clan's appearances (meaning his own,) over the safety and care of individual family members, the value of each member is how benefits him and who he can sell them out in marriage to? Fengdai really acts like Shen Shi in not thinking things through or deliberately causing trouble while pretending to be concerned about the "Feng family's reputation" and wondering why she's the one in trouble.
Thing about Chenyu bringing down family due to not being a virgin when marrying a prince is because of the culture's double standard where if men go sleep around it just shows how virile they are as long as discreet and select bed partners carefully while women are expected to be virgins on their wedding night. If a woman isn't a virgin before first marriage she's considered no better than a prostitute and the man cuckolded. For a member of the Imperial Family this could be considered an extreme insult to the family punishable not only by death of the woman, but up to and including the woman's family/clan meaning brothers, sisters, father, mother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, along with their spouses and children could be executed as well. That and a lot of malicious gossip and questions on whether the husband or somebody else sired any children she has. Only the fact that she couldn't protect her chastity and considered soiled is considered important, whether or not she consented or was raped doesn't seem to matter. Thanks to MC's operation Chenyu can pass as a virgin and seems to be planning on carrying on as before her brother raped her. However, considering the MC's insinuations to her maid/bodyguard CheungWang (I'm terrible with Chinese names so might have misspelled it,) it seems she did something to hamstring Chenyu's plans of revenge. LN mentioned that the old woman who checked Chenyu was startled about something during examination but had honestly reported that Chenyu's maidenhead was there.
