why is the protagonist so dumb? It would be okay to not believe if you got some kind of weird signal once, but it happened more than once and the signal regarding the previous spirit girl became true. Now he is there living as if nothing is happening when he was told that terrible stuff is going down.

It seems to be pretty much what you said, the mc just doesn't care about anyone. He wants to live his life his way even if that means the world gets destroyed. I'm guessing it's just bad writing by the author. They juggle too many series to bother giving every mc some actual personality.

Especially how these bad guys are obsessed with him and want him dead. Mc is really dumb and all and his knowledge and abilities should be far above everyone else but then he still/suddenly struggles against bad guys.
