Yeah, Yoshie headshot wound clearly messed up her head, literally.
She is missing the chunk of brain containing the "coexistence" and "not sticking out" by the Shiki, which Sunako ordered.
Now that she an hero herself, will escalate the conflict even more, since the villagers will show even less mercy towards vampires.

Masao was a piece of shit, his parents were old when he was born, they cared for him but he was selfish, physically and mentally abusive towards his brother children out of jealousy.

Moreover, he lust sexually towards his sister-in-law Chizuko, jealous of his brother.

After Shiki plan blew up, he wasn't trying to look for help and safe place, he wasn't looking to safety drink blood without harming the only people who might actually care for him despite his change into a monster he already was. He was aiming to enslave and mind control them.

I have read plenty of comments by people actually sympathize with him, that he was misjudged and felt sorry for him...

This is what Masao is, Chizuko is 100% right, too bad he wasn't dealt with before his change into a Shiki and abusing his family members.

Something tells me that keeping Motoko in the dark will cause huge problem...

This is the only Shiki that could be sympathize for, it's an awful thing Megumi did to Tohru out of jealousy to Natsuno and Ritsuko bitten by Shuuji along with Ryuuji to turn everyone of the villagers into Shiki as soon as possible by the order of Sunako.
But at least they kinda confessed to each other at the end and died while sleeping...

Finally.
Megumi was a delusional, selfish, egocentric, narcissistic and spiteful person.
She acted to gain attention in rural village, was surprised and angry by having attention.
She traumatized Kaori, the only person who genuinely was her only friend into near suicide, after stalking her when she turned into a Shiki.

Honestly, bit of overkill, but the least worse outcome for Megumi.
She was extremely delusional and naive about "big city life".
Her looks was more daring even by city standards and would most likely lead her to end in sex trafficking at best.
