You know, a good writer would've introduced us to the characters that were killed a few chapters ago so we would recognize them and feel sad about their deaths instead of just killing some random faceless characters we've never seen before and relying on others to tell us they're important or innocent or whatever.

I dunno this feels like more of the "there was always rampant abuse of power and betrayal" from last chapter. With the addition of killing off "well-known and well-liked" people who managed to never show in our Protag's stay in the city it feels like a corrupt nobles story arc without the build up to earn it.

“Yes, what we need to do is obvious and extremely time-critical, but let's pause to discuss it for a few minutes so that we can run out of time.”

If you ask me, a good old civil war might be just what that stupid town needs. After enough death and destruction, they could realise they have only been hurting themselves with that insane division, instead of using their energy for something constructive. Probably they should get rid of all the clergymen as well, or at the very least, the top level, absolutely. At the end of the day, such a situation is nothing but an artificial frozen conflict the clergy used to accumulate power for themselves.

I was wrong about Zalord and the pope. They are two different characters, but in cahoots.

I don't suppose Ruin is the shapeshifting culprit that Stopio was looking for? He already was capable of transforming his arms, wouldn't be a stretch for him to be capable of fully transforming. He killed a young woman (the other pope's granddaughter) and almost killed Emily, and threatened another woman as well. Except for hitting Mei's grandpa and killing the drugged fall guy, maybe he is the culprit, just missing direct evidence of having killed kids as well.

Man, I think it's too late for Shion and company to stop this brewing city-sized civil war. They're a step or two behind Zalord and his machinations. Best to just regroup out of there and decide their next move, they already rescued Mei's grandpa: the original reason they even visited Olivina city in the first place.
