Since childhood I always wondered how the hell could they throw something like fried rice. Wouldn't the thing simply be scattered all over the place? That they could hit a target as small as that plate with a goddamn catapult was already ridiculous in itself too.

I just chalked it up to shonen magic.

@SandiKurniaP It is not really impossible. Depend on the type of rice, some of them are pretty sticky, so they would stick together without scattering. One thing I notice is fried rice at Japanese restaurants is different from fried rice at Chinese places. The Japanese fried rice, or chahan, use Japanese rice with is stickier than rice from other Asian countries. When I order some take-out and put it in a plate, it still has the shape of the box it came from. Since this manga was written by Japanese, I think the mangaka only thought about the sticky Japanese rice.

I know that some rice is stickier than others, though I doubt that they can maintain their cohesiveness when being thrown by a catapult. The fried rice here also contains plenty of chopped vegetables and they are not exactly sticky either. Compared to catapult's usual ammo (namely rocks) Fried rice is very light with inconsistent shape. Hardly ideal that, especially when you're trying to make a precise shot rather than simply bombards people with rice and veggies.
