They leave out stuff deemed pointless to show. So I guess it's never come up again. NOTE: I haven't read the books yet so I'm not sure if it's pointless or not simply saying how the change of media does things.

Probably because he's convinced the king to trust him. It's been established the the Empire's royalty and nobles aren't too bright.

But I do find it strange that the otherwise supposedly smart generals haven't figured it out yet and are even considering his suggestions. Like yeah, one of them is getting a bit suspicious, but at this point he should be well beyond just suspicious. Maybe PM has some sort of mind-warping powers that make people instinctively trust him.
