Seems like this is improving the relationship with her son but straining the relationship with her daughter. It might have been interesting if the murder victim's family really loved him, and then her family relationships improving would come at the cost of destroying someone else's. As it is, the victim's family isn't very close to begin with so the fact that he's dead doesn't really seem to mean anything

Daughter is correct, now they all gonna get jailed.MC (mom) was just covering for herself and seems selfish at the end there. Could've cooked a better defense if they all said the dead bossman was being an angry drunk and start swinging wildly.
