For translators at least, probably because of the sentiment of the guy up a bit on this page, there isn't as much drive for a hobbyist to learn japanese to read raws when MTL is at a point where they can get a rudimentary version for zero effort.

just a note, it really depends on the linguistic skill the author is writing with. Harunohi is a good example. you have Heroine Survival where the story is written from the perspective of Gutterrat-cum-TinyPinkLesbianKratos Alicia Melrose, and so MTL can basically output something 20 minutes of makeup from the FTLs and Official ones. Conversely they wrote Demon Maid written from the perspective of Fleurety the maid, where MTLs die in a horrific fire trying to understand what the Spidermaid is talking about. their other 4 pieces of writing fall between them.
