Perhaps, but what about Ridley (she doesn't really like the souls linked to her own past)? It shouldn't just satisfy Watari, but also Ridley, and since they wish to be together, they're gonna stay together, in sickness and in health.

According to the underlying logic of the story, when she dies her soul will go there again, apparently to spend an eternity with those whom she loves, after a finite separation.

Another great chapter, with a lot of information: apparently, some nuking happened on Earth. Ridley lived with a group of scientists before Earth was destroyed, which I guess makes sense. Watari, on the other hand, was just a normal person.

It also appears that Watari met Ridley... Right before the Earth got destroyed? After all, the souls are not aware of Ridley at all. Also, why does Ridley not like her past? There is definitely more to her story that will explain her personality a bit more.

I don't know how this manga managed to execute the "illusion of good times" trope without feeling forced. I guess the art really did convince me of how happy Watari was.
