I just saw that the author (not the artist) is the same one from the manga adaptation of "Sengoku Basara", this explains many things.

Welp, this has to be the fastest a "mistery" was solved (from MC POV) in a manga. If even Author doesn't want to drag this subplot I'm not sure what to expect from this story and how long this manga will be-
