Although I have my hesitation about pacing issues, one of Shy’s strongest points are its dynamic scenes. Shrimpy is rushing, like the bullet train, to all stages of Teru life. Once he reaches the end of the metaphoric tunnel, he sees her visage bathed in golden light like her sister. You can only see parts of her reflection in his eyes because she’s so blinding. It really gives that “wow” and “bitterness” factor of watching your child grow up, even if it means growing further from you. I think these little moments is what gives Shy charm (especially needed for a superhero manga) even if it’s imperfect.
