I know this is going to sound cruel, but to this day I feel like Toki made the wrong choice. He should have thrown out someone elderly or sick and saved himself. The world after the bombs would've been much better if only he had been healthy. The other people who "survived" the bomb, probably ended up dying in the hellish wasteland or by the hands of bandits anyways. All he did by "saving" them instead of himself was to simply give them a temporary stay of execution.
