So, uh...
Is anyone gonna tell the author and the studio that skateboarding (and snowboarding, and bmx, freestyle skiing, and...) don’t have “national teams” or national programs? Like, it’ll be in the Olympics (if Tokyo ever happens), but there’s no US or Japanese national skate program, just like there isn’t one for boxing.
It’s, “You do you, go out and film and compete, and if you’re good enough you’ll get sponsored and win some and make some money,” and that freedom and lack of structure is what a lot of skaters, especially the Japanese skaters, like the most about it.
