Ants in different roles move in different ways. Since the ant-dance was supposed to be a collective effort, we need to imagine ants as we would usually observe multiples of them. Thus, the dance would informed by the following of a
path. Each ant would move along the very same path, though some ants would be moving in one direction while others would be moving in the opposite direction. Ants would pause momentarily to renew the markers of formic acid. As ants met, they would pause briefly to communicate, then each would continue in the same direction as she had begun. Ants in immediate areas of greater warmth (as perhaps from sunlight) would move at greater speed. Occasionally an ant would lose the path, and would then move quickly and randomly, seeking to find a formic-acid path marker. In the case of most species, it would be possible that an ant who had been lost wold end-up headed the wrong direction once she again found the path.
How many PE teachers is a school supposed to have? At the high school from which I was graduated, one of the
coaches was a math teacher, so I could imagine him acting as a substitute PE teacher.
