As someone who lost his father from stroke, words can't describe how lucky Kaoru is and I'm glad to see it.

I still don't understand why the author wrote this arc.

Like, it's not Loss. But it's not that far from it either.

It's part of "slice of life", and it's to show that the relationship is not one-sided (Nanami relying on Kaoru for everything), to show Nanami's growth that she now can deal with conductor, AND to show that despite all we saw before, Kaoru is still a child and has his own unreliable / panic side.

Dayum this was hard! Looking at the drooping left side of the face before let me know he had a stroke. My father had the same situation, but the "fast response" went completely missing and he passed away 1 month later. Freaking strokes are scary man! The simple fact of watching someone completely stop being "themselves" after one is super scary... I didn't know therapy could help with the the paralysis! With my father, them doctors just told us "that's how he's going to live now" :S

The boss is like: "I'm sorry, your father has been fired for missing work yesterday. Also, his injury is not related to work so we won't pay any compensation. Finally, the patent for the medicine is wholly held by our company due to our investment in the project. Please inform your father about this. Goodbye!"

I've been here before. My dad lost mobility on his right. I spent about seven years taking care of him before he passed away.

It sucks, man. When he passed away, I felt empty for another two years. Even now, I'm still processing it, though I feel much better thanks to the support I had.

  • Because it's life. Because the author is portraying what a real couple relationship is like.
  • Shows how much Nanami has grown. That she's out of her shell and can support Kaoru.
  • Shows that Kaoru has his own substantial weakness that he needs help with. (Up to this point we've seen Kaoru almost entirely as support for Nanami. Here we see him getting supported by her.)
  • (One of core parts of a couple relationship is providing support when the other is weak and needs that support.)
  • And it show that you can have face shaped like sponge pants bob and still be a boss.

"I'm actually your fathers boyfriend. Seeing him in critical condition made me propose to him so we could spend our lives together, so I'll be your second father, nice to meet you son" /s

Strokes can take years to recover from if they even do recover from it. My grandmother suffered a stroke in 2019 and has been bedridden ever since. Getting a stroke at a late age means that rebuilding muscle is nearly impossible & she’s become completely immobile save for her right arm.

Be strong, friend. If you can't be strong, someone out there is always willing to stand with you when you need it.
