As someone who lost his father from stroke, words can't describe how lucky Kaoru is and I'm glad to see it.
It's part of "slice of life", and it's to show that the relationship is not one-sided (Nanami relying on Kaoru for everything), to show Nanami's growth that she now can deal with conductor, AND to show that despite all we saw before, Kaoru is still a child and has his own unreliable / panic side.
I still don't understand why the author wrote this arc.
Like, it's not Loss. But it's not that far from it either.
