I honestly quite enjoyed this manga. It reminded me a bit of the Fleetway comic and how zones from the games were featured as actual locations.
I think what I find more interesting, though, is how different it is from the final game. Obviously this was being produced alongside Sonic 1's production, which is why spring yard is called 'sparkling zone' and scrap brain is called 'clockwork zone', though I didn't know star light zone was going to be called 'star land zone'. I guess the change was so insignificant that nobody decided to document it. It was also intriguing to see the difference in zone order, too. I guess sega knew how much of a bitch labyrinth zone was if they were planning to make it the final level.
Even though they surprisingly weren't the main focus to the story, I was glad to see the 'Sonic the Hedgehog band' be represented. It's also good to know that bunny girls are confirmed canon in the Sonic universe and that batniks can say the fuck word.
