Yeah, changing manga to monthly releases without changing the pacing is really showing. I may be wrong, but pacing really feels even slower than before. Also, the structure of the story changed - before we had whole episodes dedicated to specific things, but we also had pauses with change of pace, side stories and "topic" changes, where we had school life, slice of life scenes, a bit of ecchi, comedy, etc. Now it's very "monolithic" where one single topic is covered very extensively for some chapters and it is follow by other single topic without any pause.Ever since the horror-nun cosplay (or whatever it was, I kinda forgot what it was about), I've lost interest in this manga, so I hope it goes somewhere by the end of this arc (relationship progress, new challenges, whatever, as long as it's something new and interesting), or else I'll probably drop it
It was never about that, though - the author's focus has been mostly on cosplay from the start with everything else as extra. So I wouldn't get my hopes up, if I were you.I came for a fluffy rom com with high level cosplay elements, and instead got no romance and a bunch of cosplay for years. I really don't care what these photographers have to say, especially while gojo is spiraling. This would be so much better if they were just a couple.
I'll check in a few months from now and hope that there's been progress
Yeah, but everything in-between cosplaying and making it (and while making it!) was filled with other fun elements, to the point where it was very easy to forget it's actually about cosplay. I bet some people don't even pay much attention to it, expecting cosplay to exist as "background" for the story and additional ecchi so it won't feel out of place. And i can't blame them.It was never about that, though - the author's focus has been mostly on cosplay from the start with everything else as extra. So I wouldn't get my hopes up, if I were you.
For me, ultimately, Gojo isn’t ready for any of what he’s feeling and doesn’t know how to process it.I would go a bit further, their cosplaying relationship was going as good as their own private relationship, but now a very big wedge got in between that could break them apart. Fame.
Gojo might need to accept that he makes her that awesome looking because of skill and Marin is so much more awesome because of his skill.
Gojo is “Haniel’s devil”, and she doesnt give two fucks about the public being mesmerized, she cares about being Haniel FOR “her devil”, she is pondering how good her cosplay is while thinking about him. The cosplay’s backstory is indeed reflecting in their RL of the character completely at that point.
Two things would make sense here, depending on the perspective:
1) Gojo walks away from there asap, being overwhelmed by the dark feelings he has/Marin gets a bit overwhelmed and wants to rest, and notices that Gojo is gone.
2) Gojo stays but he is completely bitter and behaves like a hurt bitch towards her.
I really hope the second doesnt happen xD.
Hopefully Fukuda-Sensei is doing better regarding all the health issues. Even before it was monthly the release schedule was kind of messed up because of the bi-weekly release cycle and the author's breaks/health problems.I get that this is one of the last if not the last cosplay in the series, the grand finale or climax or whatnot, but we still don’t see the protagonist’s full thoughts, only some peeks…
Fishy? These chapters feel like Haniel's ribs.
I am not alone, thank god. I rate this cosplay the most boring one yet. These Hanniel cosplays are really cringe ngl lol. The whole “wow, it is so scary”, and makes everyone shiver, and Gojo reacting and making these retarded facial expressions, all cringe.
Pretending that the romance aspect isn't reason this series became so popular it did is cope. Pure and simple. It was never about that, though - the author's focus has been mostly on cosplay from the start with everything else as extra. So I wouldn't get my hopes up, if I were you.
And pretending like that's the only aspect of this manga that matters is also cope. Simple as.Pretending that the romance aspect isn't reason this series became so popular it did is cope. Pure and simple.
Yeah, bit it's you who goes "this manga was and will be about making cosplay and cosplaying, everything else is minor subplot". If majority started reading because of other elements, aside from cosplay, and those elements were very prevalent earlier, it's no-brainer people going to start complaining, because they feel cheated, if those elements are gone for a long time. It's called bait and switch, intentional or not.And pretending like that's the only aspect of this manga that matters is also cope. Simple as.
The romance has been out of focus for so long, you have people thinking that Gojo hasn't realized his love for Marin, it's been so long that people genuinely forgot about the succubus cosplay, the sheer sexual tension, how he literally popped a boner from her, or how he was... masturbating???? It's not my fault nor the manga's fault that people can't understand themes and slow-burn storytelling. If all you want is romance, there's thousands of manga that do the exact same blushy-feely-embarrassed stuff - let the author of this one do their thing and if you don't like it, then I guess that's just tough.Yeah, bit it's you who goes "this manga was and will be about making cosplay and cosplaying, everything else is minor subplot". Complaining that you don't like something is fine - but I'm tired of people complaining absolutely nonstop about the lack of romance because somehow they're feeling betrayed or cheated by a manga author wanting to write a story their way. The romance will come, yes - it's even in the title, of course it's going to happen. However, it's not the only focus of the story and people should not brush aside the other major component of this manga's story to focus on it. Let the author do their thing, and if you don't like it - deal with it without screaming in the comments every. Bloody. Time.
What you said feels extremely plausible, I really hope it goes as you’ve said, would make the most sense. For me, ultimately, Gojo isn’t ready for any of what he’s feeling and doesn’t know how to process it.
His thoughts about Marin as a friend (which itself is still unfamiliar to him), himself being recognized for his work and what it could mean, his budding romantic feelings, jealousy and guilt for feeling that jealousy, all that and more… feeling all that at once, conflating them all together and their mixed meanings and potential consequences is overwhelming. Remember too that he’s also physically exhausted.
He needs individual character development, maybe a real heart to heart talk with his grandpa will help give him more clarity, as he has done in the past.
Without that growth on his part their relationship is not going anywhere. Marin can say anything, throw herself at him even, and he won’t be able to accept her because he doesn’t accept himself.
My best guess is that Akira or someone else he knows will see him, ask how he’s doing and he’ll say “can you watch the suitcase? I need to go. Tell Marin I went home for me”. Then cut forward to him waking up to her banging on his door and a million missed calls and texts on his phone.
