This does at least a half-decent job of following through with it's really stupid premise while keeping the characters somewhat likeable and believable.
Though it kind of flubs the ending pretty badly; there isn't nearly enough build-up to support the kind of conclusion it tries to go for, and on top of it he suddenly becomes the stereotype that he'd spent the middle part of the story subverting... makes it kind of feel like the author wasn't really sure what they wanted to achieve, here.
