Thank u always for ur great work...
^^...

Try to stay under the radar - then bid double the opening price, what a good move...
XD...
Typical isekai protagonist in an auction, who overthinks but is dense, and thinks he will outsmart everybody.

For example Michio (from Isekai Meikyuu de Harem wo) was a compete idiot, when he brought Vesta in an auction.
(LN (Vol. 8) spoiler, not depicted in the manga (yet).)

Auctions typically have a listing or allow inspection of goods before the event. Being surprised by the items isn't a good look for him. Should have brought someone that has experience to guide him.
His supposed guide is inside a dungeon with a hangover.
Come to think of it, how do you win a bid in a way that doesn't stand out?
Probably by having his merchant company front buy it for him. She's out cold from overindulging though.

LOL i'm surprised mc wouldn't have the supplies/materials to just make an instant hangover cure

I've heard "hangover soup" is a thing in korea tho idk if they eat it outta habit or if there is added stuff in it versus natural ingredients to make one feel better or just easy to digest/swallow after drinking

aww i want a mini goleo statue too

I guess auction bidding are fairly safe areas but imagine if someone just went in and stole or so if not just some fake stuff

Ten mil? dang low ball them first dude, doing it so high would stick out

What happen to his plan of not standing out and attracting attention. Bidders normally bid by small increment and those who do not are rich ones that want the attention.

This is done because they don't want other to know they wanted the item too badly. If other know then their rivals will outbid them out of spite or plan to use the item as a bargaining tool or just deny them the item.

Come to think of it, how do you win a bid in a way that doesn't stand out? Regardless, bidding almost double the current highest bid probably isn't it.

Not to mention the other bidders judging from the chair are higher nobles and he is sitting at the rich commoners chair. Some noble's ego would be hurt since got outbid by a commoner. Some might even counterbid even though they have no interest in the product.

To be fair, the very first auction for the Goleo statue went from 2mil to 7.5mil in one go..

It's still a really dumb thing to do though.

Notice the chair . The chairs are arranged based on social status. Front row(sofa) are the highest in social rank more likely royalty or duke rank . Second row(sofa chair) are middle ranked noble. Third row where the mc seat are for rich merchants and auctioneers and the last rows are for everyone else.

the first bidders are rich merchants(still commoners in the eyes of nobles) or low nobles and the one that outbid them with large margin is a high noble(first row). The main reason why they only increment only a little is because they want the item paying little cost as possible. That the thing, what a high noble and rich merchant consider low cost are different.

Now we go to the orichalcum auction. The first bidders are the high nobles judging from the sofa chair (second row) and the bid amount while our mc here at the rich merchant seat.

What dumb per say is not only the huge gap but also he bid against high nobles who are known to have huge egos and excess pride. What would happen if they got beaten by a person they consider beneath them .

Even if they are rare nobles who are not easily offended they might still want to use him.

He definitely have their attention now.
