"... or marry her off to Takeru?"

Damn, that shady merchant looks like your average bad guy.

Okay...

Coffee or chocolate would have made a lot more sense than "Soy Sauce" - I mean.

Shit, I guess I appreciate they aren't just doing a 1:1 on stuff from the real world, but SOY SAUCE?

Bernard sounded like a cliché scam e-mail towards the end.
"Dear Mr./Mrs. Anon, your [family member] has been badly injured in a [vague] accident and has been hospitalised, please send a large sum of money to [random bank account] and please hurry they may not last long."
It's made more stupid by the fact that this world has potions and healing magic, of which he has access to both.
So Bernard was aiding in a master plan up until MC came around, then he became a Saturday morning cartoon villain.

I’m not a writer but I can at least guess the author is starting to run out of idea when he/she already using the starter packs one by one. (Rice, bath, onsen, soy sauce, Katana, curry)

Forgot about this series, and I was wondering why I only read to ch. 33.
Seeing this soy sauce BS, I was reminded "Oh, it's one of those".

Staple crop that they store over winter for some reason. Never tried experimenting with the flavor. That makes lots of sense.

Soy sauce in our world isn't made in a day. Soy sauce takes time to ferment

This is the same world where people never tried to eat crab because it looks disgusting, should be no surprise that soy sauce is treated the same. Although, the crab one is understandable since they are c rank monsters and aren't exactly easy to hunt, but here people are starving but they won't eat this staple fruit that is perfectly edible just because it smells bad and tastes salty? That's kinda far fetched..

Yeah but we also don't get soy sauce fruits, we use soybeans. Safe to say it only tastes like soy sauce but isn't actually the same.
