Even if things are ending...
I'm glad I could feel a connection with another marvel hyper-nerd. Across the oceans...across this planet...
Superheroes remain fucking awesome.
The best Spider-Man title right now, and it's a manga spin-off for Doctor Octopus that's ending after 32 chapters. Sad to see it go, but glad to see it have a definitive end instead of going on past its time.
Good thing they avoided the "Norman Osborn infecting Mary with HIV" storyline, that would've been convoluted and would have completely taken the focus off of Otto.
can't believe the love and dedication this manga has for continuity of the Spider-Man comics, and a love for the characters even main comics has lack in the past few years. I'm going to miss this manga
Btw, I noticed a comment elsewhere saying that Octo Girl never had many views, nor sales in Japan and wondered if Marvel or Shueisha had much faith in this project.

It reminds me of how Spiderman Fake Red flopped with Japanese manga audiences and always suffered low sales, to the point it had to be cancelled. Like the local readers just could not connect with the material and its storytelling style, even though comic book readers (esp. the Western fanbase) liked it a lot.

And on top of that, Deadpool: Samurai was cancelled and the writer & artist fired from Jump for parodying a volume cover of Gotoubun no Hanayome without asking permission
Marvel manga has had the worst luck...

Because if it was that severe the publishers would've cancelled Deadpool Samurai outright and made an official announcement. A hiatus could mean damage control, but not to the extent of cancellation.

In my personal opinion, I like Ultimate Spider-Man, but what I think it lacks is a strong characterization for Peter, and is generally pretty slow-paced. I think that Peter lacks a lot of agency and is pretty passive in his own book. Actually I'd say he's pretty naive given the nature of the world he lives, that he's in his mid-late 30s, and the fact that he now knows more about it. Ben and MJ warn him about it, but he himself should already know after how badly he
and Harry lost to Kingpin
It's just not what I'm expecting out of the Ultimates line and the worldbuilding is entirely too slow compared to The Ultimates and Ultimates: One Year In. As much as I like seeing a Peter who's married and happy, there's a significant sense of aimlessness I'm getting from the main character specifically. Feel free to reread USM issues to see how much of an impression that Peter leaves. And he's not even a scientist which was a core character aspect.
In contrast, Octo-Girl plays around with Spider-Man concepts fast and loose and pivots off of Slott's ideas way better than they were explored in his run and subsequent Superior runs. It gets to the heart of Spider-Man without even using Spider-Man.
No, it's not.
At the same time as Deadpool Samurai, Hikaru Uesugi started his own serialization in Shonen Champion online, and Deadpool is only on hiatus due to work balance issues with that series.
