I actually didn't know this, I mostly knew the Jackie Chan info from having actually watched Cannonball Run. I always felt Jackie and his sidekick's inclusion in the movie kind of weird, but I think that makes much more sense given that context.

He also had a racing/action movie called Thunderbolt, of course starring Mitsubishi cars. It even predates Fast and Furious.

That was because 1981 Cannonball was co-produced by Hong Kong tycoon Raymond Chow and his Golden Harvest studio

Jackie drives the Starion in Cannonball Run 2 with Jaws from James Bond series.

Btw the R33 drivetrain is overall an upgrade over the R32 but it could just mean dude blew up his original engine and swapped in a new one from a 33.
