This one is pretty memorable. It's fundamentally a typical shoujo. It's all about falling in love, with some plot complications and angst. But it's really good angst. This manga to me impresses on a reader the feeling of falling hopelessly for somebody at a gut, physical level. It doesn't just tell us the characters' feelings; it almost goes beyond showing their feelings. It's more like it immerses you in their feelings. When it comes to evoking that doki-doki, Sakisaka Io shows the shoujo world how it's done--and this is maybe her rawest, strongest work.

I've read Strobe Edge thrice, and each time I notice something new. The first volume seems quite typical of the genre (cool unattainable boy, clueless cute girl with no experience in love), but the characters turn out quite nuanced, and the story's focus is on character growth (not just on love). The secondary characters have their own growth arcs and aren't there just in service of plot or the leads.

Of the three most popular Sakisaka Io works (Ao Haru Ride, Love Me Love Me Not), this remains my favourite.

Like purpleteapot and Purplelibraryguy, they've basically worded how I perceive this manga very eloquently and I agree completely. This work continues to be my favourite of hers. I'm definitely going to collect the volumes in English because it's worth it.

I've read it at least 3 or 4 times now and it still pulls you in with the character interactions and developments. The situations are cliche but they just have that oomf that not many shoujo authors can portray nowadays. It's definitely there right at the top. It's unfortunate how underrated it is compared to FuriFura and Aoharaido... This deserves to get an anime adaptation too :c
